Overview – LDT 360 Drill Rig
Affordability
The LDT 360 water well drill rig has substantial cost advantages over other kinds of water well drill rigs for sale with comparable capability. With the LDT 360 price advantage, as many as ten LDT 360 drill rigs cost about the same as only one typical rotary rig. This cost advantage enables entry by small business enterprises to drill more wells. The LDT 360 can drill a typical 150 foot bore hole through rock such as shale with as little as 50 gallons of gasoline. The cable tool method of drilling also saves money by eliminating the need for such water well drilling equipment as a mud pump and air compressors and the need for highly trained operators.
Reliability
The cable tool method of drilling water wells has been in service for hundreds of years and is known for its simplicity and functionality. There are very few parts to break down. By eliminating the need for air compressors and mud pumps there is less equipment prone to fail.
Capabilities
The LDT 360 drill rig carries enough mainline cable to drill to a depth of 450 feet with bore diameters of 4 to 10 inches through almost any kind geology, be it unconsolidated material or rock. The rig is built with lift capability of 8,000 pounds for casing removal if needed. The drill rig carries everything required to drill a well including 40 gallons of on-board water storage with a 40 PSI pump, 150 amp arc welder when steel casing is used, 20 gallons of fuel (enough to drill about 75 feet), locking storage box for all the equipment and racking for most casing needs. Penetration rates usually range between 2 ½-5 feet per hour depending on the geology. Eliminating the need to force mud into the formation often enhances water production which creates an additional benefit of cable tool drilling. For water well rehabilitation the cable tool’s up and down motion makes for a great swabbing tool.
Service and Maintenance
The LDT 360 drill rig was designed with parts readily available from third party vendors throughout the world making service and maintenance more convenient. The rig’s simplicity adds to the reliability and serviceability. Drill tools and bits are provided by a number of third party venders.
Portablility
The LDT 360 is designed compact enough to ship two units per a standard 20 foot shipping container with some assembly. Once on the ground this portable water well drill rig is towed behind a typical pickup truck with 7000 pounds of towing capacity to its working destination.
Operation & Training
The cable tool method of drilling water wells is easy to master. The process of pulverizing rock with a percussion bit and bailing the tailing from the bore hole is relatively easy to learn. Our unique adaptation of hydraulic controls to the cable tool drilling operation enables safe single person operation. Third party training may be available.
